A CHAIN of Greenwich restaurants has been fined £11,500 for breaching health and safety at work.

An investigation led by Greenwich Council found that Greenwich Inc limited’s Inc Brasserie restaurant had not followed a previous enforcement notice on the dangerous state of a kitchen floor.

Further investigation found the floor had collapsed in several places leaving a large number of holes.

The company, also known as the Inc Group, was found guilty of two breaches of the Health and Safety Act at work.

They were also ordered to pay additional costs of £8,730 to the council.

Greenwich Inc limited was fined at Woolwich Magistrates Court on May 17.

The council’s cabinet member for environment and community safety, Councillor Maureen O’Mara said: “The council takes its responsibility to deal with health and safety within the workplace very seriously.

"People should be able to work without having their health and safety put at risk."

She added: "We urge all our businesses to maintain regular health and safety checks to prevent any employees from being injured at work and to avoid a heavy fine.”
