A COURT battle between Lewisham Council and a community group over a two-day pop festival on Blackheath will rumble on until April.
Last October, Lewisham Council granted a licence to Nimby Events for an annual music festival at the site of 2009’s climate camp protest.
It is due to take place on September 10 and September 11 this year by Hare and Billet Road.
But the Blackheath Society raised funds to appeal the application, arguing the noise and estimated 50,000 crowd would cause disturbance to residents and questioning Nimby’s experience.
Society members were joined by Greenwich and Lewisham councillors at Bromley Magistrates’ Court last week for the appeal.
Nimby argues it will put controls in place to minimise nuisance to Blackheath people and will boost the area’s economy.
The hearing has now been adjourned until April 4.
