POLICE are appealing for information after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed.
The schoolboy was walking along Deptford High Street on January 21 with two friends at around 5.10pm.
A silver car suddenly pulled up and parked in the middle of the road, followed by another car.
Five black boys or young men, wearing dark clothing and hoodies, got out of the cars and chased the boys.
They chased the 14-year-old to the cemetery of St Paul’s Church, Diamond Way, Deptford.
The victim fell down and was punched in the face and repeatedly stabbed in the back.
Once the suspects left, the boy managed to go towards his nearby home where a neighbour saw him and called the police at around 5.20pm.
The boy was taken to a south London hospital but has since been discharged.
Detective Constable Baljit Bains said: “As it was a busy time of the day in the high street, there must have been lots of people around, so we would urgently like to hear from anyone who saw the incident or has any information about this, however small.
“This was a violent attack upon a young schoolboy who has to live with the memory of it. We want to bring these criminals to justice as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information should call Lewisham CID on 020 8284 8468 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
