A GREEN councillor has launched his campaign to become an MP.
Lewisham councillor Cllr Darren Johnson, who is also a London Assembly member, is running for the Lewisham Deptford seat currently held by Labour’s Joan Ruddock.
Mr Johnson was the first Green member of the council, where he represents Brockley ward, and is leader of the local branch of the Greens.
He said: “The Government is planning to waste billions on renewing Trident, introducing ID cards and building new roads.
“I want to see that money spent properly on creating vital new jobs.
“Greens have plans for new jobs in public transport, green energy, affordable housing and care for elderly people. We are offering a fresh approach and its time for a Green MP for Lewisham."
