GRAVESHAM MP Adam Holloway has been asked to repay £1,000 he mistakenly claimed in expenses.
After an audit of expense claims going back to 2004 by Sir Thomas Legg, a number of MP's across the country have been asked to repay claims deemed unacceptable.
Adam Holloway has agreed to pay back £1,000 after accidentally claiming twice for council tax in 2007.
A spokeswoman for Mr Holloway said: "He will absolutely be paying it back.
"It was an oversight by the House of Commons, the fees office and Adam in the first year he was elected."
The spokeswoman said Mr Holloway refused to speak directly to News Shopper “because of what you wrote about his expenses before and the Hawaii F.O. story”.
This was a reference to our reports on Mr Holloway’s expenses claims earlier this year, and an article about his foul-mouthed response to a News Shopper question.
In July a reporter asked the former SAS soldier during a phone call what he was planning to do with his 83-day summer recess from parliament.
Mr Holloway replied “I will be going to Hawaii for 69 days - now f*ck off” before hanging up.
In April the 44-year-old revealed he had claimed total expenses of £146,933 in the last financial year.
This included an allowance for his second home in Gravesend, with Mr Holloway claiming £47.96 on a garden hose and sprinkler.
He says he tried to give up his second home allowance and commute to London from Gravesend from September last year to this April.
However, he says he found it was not practical because of the long working hours he spent in Parliament.
Dartford MP Dr Howard Stoate revealed he had claimed total expenses of £147,732 in the last financial year.
This included an allowance for his second home in Kennington, with the GP claiming £443 on DIY materials.
In April, the Dr Stoate announced he would pay back the £11,000 he had so far claimed during 2008/9.
The 55-year-old, who will stand down at the next general election, has not been asked to repay any expense claims.
