PASSENGERS escaped serious injury when a double decker bus collided with a car in Woolwich.
An ambulance crew was called to the scene in Hillreach but no patients needed to be treated.
One bus passenger says this was due to the driver’s actions of braking sharply so the accident was not more serious.
But the passenger, Justin Pawley, says the vehicles were not so lucky.
Mr Pawley said: “The bus and people carrier were badly damaged and the road was blocked both ways, amazingly there were no injuries.”
The incident took place at around 7.30pm on Friday evening (October 31).
The 53 bus route runs between Orchard Road, Plumstead, and Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall.
It is operated by the Selkent bus company.
A Selkent spokesman said: “We train our drivers to high standards in order to pass the bus driver test and it is pleasing to know that these standards have been maintained in this case and that the driver has used his experience to good effect.”
