Fire crews battled overnight to tackle a fire in a flat in Woolwich, with two people treated at the scene.
Fire and ambulance crews were called to the fire at a mid-terraced house on Brookhill Road in Woolwich in the early hours of this morning (October 12) at around 3:53am.
The scene was attended by around 60 firefighters and eight fire engines who battled for 98 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
One second floor flat in the building was alight and 32-metre turntable ladders were used at the scene to help fire crews put out the fire.
Two people were treated at the scene by ambulance crews.
The fire was under control by 5:22am and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled a fire at a mid terraced house converted into flats on Brookhill Road in“One second floor flat was alight. Two people were treated on scene by London Ambulance Service.
“Control Officers took the first of six calls regarding the fire at 0352 and mobilised firefighters from Plumstead, Greenwich, East Greenwich and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 0522.
“One of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders was used at the scene as an observation tower to help fight the fire from above.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
