Two men have been taken to hospital after an unknown “substance” was reportedly thrown at them in central London.
The incident happened in Ranston Street near Bell Street, Marylebone just before 8.50pm on October 9.
Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found two men injured.
They were taken to hospital where one of the men was discharged a short time later.
The condition for the other man was assessed as not life-threatening.
The substance will be tested as police enquiries into the circumstances continue.
One of the men was arrested for unrelated matters.
No other arrests have been made at this time.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by LAS at 20:52hrs on Wednesday, 9 October to Ranston Street.
“It was reported that two men were injured after a substance was thrown. Both men were taken to hospital.
“One of the men was discharged from hospital a short time later.
“The condition for the other man has been assessed as not life-threatening.
“A number of scenes are in place. Urgent enquiries are ongoing.
“The substance will be tested.
“One of the men has been arrested for unrelated matters. No other arrests have been made at this time.
