A man has been seen damaging letterboxes with a knife in Lewisham.
Officers were called to Burnt Ash Road on Sunday, July 7, just after 8.30am after reports of the incident.
When they arrived, they found that a man in his 50s had barricaded himself inside a property.
The area was cordoned off and the road was closed to traffic and pedestrians.
He was later taken to hospital under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 08:33hrs on Sunday, 7 July to reports of a man seen armed with a knife in the street causing criminal damage to multiple letterboxes outside an address in Burnt Ash Road, Lewisham.
“Officers arrived on the scene. The man in his 50s had gone back inside the property and had barricaded himself inside the property.
“The area was cordoned off. He was taken to hospital under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act.”
