An arts festival at the heart of the community in Lewisham is back next month to celebrate its 23rd birthday.
From May 31 to June 8, Brockley Max will be celebrating its 23rd birthday with nine days of music, art, performance, and exhibitions.
With something for the whole family to enjoy, Brockley Max’s 2024 programme is working with various venues across Lewisham this spring.
The festival will start at the open-air Brockley Max Opening Night in Coulgate Street on May 31.
From front gardens to public spaces, Brockley Music Trail will bring the whole community together through live music on Saturday June 1.
Art In The Park is back on Hilly Fields on June 8 from 12-6 pm – with family friendly activities such as art workshops, storytelling, and a craft market.
Folk In The Garden will see an all-dayer of the best of Lewisham folk bands on June 8.
Following on from the Black Icon’s Project last year, Lift Her Up will bring panel discussions, films, and workshops regarding black female trailblazers in Lewisham during the festival.
Brockley Max is working with One Harmony Radio, to broadcast festival highlights on the Festival Radio Station.
Moira Tait, founder, and director of the Brockley Max Festival adds: “Lewisham is such a diverse area. It was important our festival programme reflected that.
“We are offering a huge variety of events this year so we’re confident there’s something to suit all tastes.
“Whether you want to watch comedy, learn harmonica or listen to our radio station.”
