From GPs to shoe retailers, several businesses and workers based in south east London have made it on the deliberate tax defaulters list.
Reports released by HM Revenue and Customers every three months 'name and shame' the businesses and individuals who have been caught filing incorrect tax reports across the country.
Many are ordered to pay penalties for either deliberately filing errors in their tax returns or deliberately failing to comply with tax obligations.
A locum GP from Dulwich was added to the list after £93,043.92 of tax or duty was unaccounted for between April 6, 2016, through to April 5, 2018.
Atim Angel Anam, formerly known as Atim Angel Itam, was hit with a £58,152.44 penalty by HMRC as a result.
A business fined was Zeta Shoes Ltd, formerly trading as Zeta Shoes, after £37,041.56 of tax or duty was unaccounted for between April 6, 2020, through to April 5, 2022.
The footwear retailer was fined £37,041.56.
Tclass Facilities Management Ltd, a facilities management business based in Bexleyheath, was fined £64,328.
This came after £38,275.16 of tax or duty was unaccounted for from August 1, 2021 through to October 31, 2021.
Mohammed Yousef, from Eltham, was fined £96,047.37 after £140,728.76 of tax or duty based on income from property was not accounted from April 6, 2017, through to April 5, 2019.
Zaheda Yousuf from Bromley was also fined based on tax from property income that was not accounted for.
He was fined ££96,047.37 after £140,728.76 was unaccounted for between April 6, 2017, and April 5, 2019.
According to the government website, each entry on the list is specific to the default dates to which it refers.
The address is the one associated with the published person at the time of the default. For example:
- the published person may have changed their behaviour
- the published person may no longer be at the published address
- the business currently at the published address may have no connection with published business
- the business currently at the published address may have the same name as the published business but could be under completely new management
