A pub in a Grade II listed building in Greenwich has been put up for sale for £1.5million.
The Woolwich Equitable pub on Woolwich New Road has been listed for sale by Acorn Estate Agents.
The space in the building, called Equitable House, includes a large seating area with a fully functioning bar and kitchen.
The interior features high ceilings and a mezzanine while the outside includes the only licenced seating area for a pub in Woolwich town centre.
Historic England claimed the building was first listed in 2001 after being built in 1935. The three storey structure originally served as the headquarters for the Woolwich Equitable Building Society until 1989.
The public body said: “It is a handsome and monumental building of solid neo-classicism that inspired customers’ confidence and also expressed modernity with elegant Deco detailing throughout.”
The pub in the building closed last year due to rent arrears as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It was run by Antic, who sent plans to open a pub on Powis Street in Woolwich in 2020, with additional details on the project being submitted to Greenwich Council last November.
Equitable House hosts several businesses including The Coffee Lounge and Paddy Power. Clover Health Centre was also based in the building for 11 years.
The centre was closed in September last year by the South East London Integrated Care Board due to the small patient list size, according to the board.
The South East London ICB said in a statement: “We are confident in the capacity of Greenwich GP practices to accommodate the increased number of patients.
"They have expressed their willingness to take on this responsibility. We will collaborate with Healthwatch Greenwich and the Local Medical Committee to develop a plan that provides additional support during the registration process, particularly for the most vulnerable patients.”
The unit in the building, which overlooks General Gordon Square in Woolwich town centre, has been listed by Acorn as being for sale for £1.5m.
The space is also available at a rental price of £75,000 per year.
