Plans have been revealed to add a bowling alley to the back of a Greenwich pub.
Greenwich Council has received an application for Davy and Co Limited to add a bowling alley behind its bar on Greenwich High Road.
Planning documents from First Plan, on behalf of Davy’s, said the pub wishes to convert the office space in its rear building, which backs onto the railway tracks at Greenwich train station.
The building previously served as a storage facility until being converted into offices in 1986.
The plans said: “The applicant is seeking confirmation that the building could be used for indoor leisure and recreation use as an indoor bowling alley, in order to facilitate the securing of a long-term suitable occupier for the building.”
The bowling alley would have six lanes and a kitchen with a bar to serve food and drinks to customers in a lounge area.
The space is expected to have room for 100 people including staff. Other changes to the building include adding an additional corridor leading to the main staircase on the ground floor and adding a lift.
Davy’s has operated as a firm of wine merchants since 1870 and moved their operations from Barking to Greenwich in 1972.
The company soon opened the wine bar on Greenwich High Road and later started a wine shop on the same road in 1985. As well as the wine bar on the site, the company also offers pétanque and escape rooms to customers.
Greenwich Council officers have until March 27 to process the application for the bowling alley. Davy’s was approached for comment but had not responded at the time of publication.
