There’s not much better than a good Italian, a family-run restaurant and a place you can take your four-legged friends.

Well, what about if you could have all three?

At Brasseria in the heart of Notting Hill, you can, and it’s such a lovely place to go and eat that I really recommend doing so.

It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with different menus and different offerings for each.

The owners of Brasseria are brothers Alberto Fraquelli and Andrea Fraquelli who also own La Brasseria in Marylebone High Street.

I went to the Notting Hill restaurant on a Thursday night in January for some good food mixed with a hint of attempting Dry January.

I ate from the A La Carte menu and drank from the Dry January mocktail menu – enjoying a no-tequila sunrise while my boyfriend had some ginger ale and lemonade.

My no-tequila sunrise was a perfect replica of one of my favourite cocktails, but just tasted a little fruitier and felt a little healthier which I really appreciated.

The menu is wide-ranging with loads on offer from fish to meat, to pizza and pasta – and it was not an easy decision which to go for.

The waiters very kindly gave us some recommendations, and we both went for the tonno scottato to start which was a lightly seared tuna with ceviche dressing.

The dressing had a sweet undertone but was slightly tangy, and I couldn’t get enough of it, especially drowning fresh tuna.News Shopper:

For main course I went for the seabass which comes grilled with spinach. If done right, this is one of my favourite dishes to order in a restaurant because I absolutely love grilled fresh fish.

It was done right, and I’m so glad I went for this over one of the pasta dishes I was tempted by.

There was loads of spinach, and because I couldn’t choose between mashed potato and “the crispiest Zucchini frites” I went for both, and it’s safe to say I had a feast of deliciousness.

Mashed potato is one of my weaknesses and this one absolutely banged – it was creamy, soft and rich.

My boyfriend ordered the calf’s liver which he thoroughly enjoyed as well for his main.

For dessert we shared a Panna Cotta and mango sorbet, before actually having to roll out of the restaurant.

As expected, they were both divine, and the Panna Cotta had chocolate crumble on top which really finished it off.

I’ll definitely be going back to Brasseria, and trying the sister restaurant in Marylebone is definitely on my to-do list.

Go and support this family and eat a delicious meal while you’re at it!
