A London bus operator is set to roll out the world's most efficient electric double-decker bus across the capital.
Go-Ahead London is trialling the StreetDeck Electroliner, an electric vehicle (EV) constructed by Northern Irish manufacturer Wrightbus.
Launched in 2021, the vehicle has now been revealed as the market's most energy-efficient of its kind from official tests.
The EV has been touring the UK to exhibit its capabilities, and to give bus operators and local authorities the chance to see it in on the road.
Last year, Arriva and Abellio placed orders for the electric double-decker from Wrightbus.
As a result, dozens of the world's most efficient double-decker EVs are set for deployment across London.

Jean-Marc Gales, CEO of Wrightbus, said: "We're looking forward to seeing the world's most efficient double deck EV bus on the streets of London to show everyone what it is capable of.

He added that their EV offers the optimal performance with a rapid charge, enabling more time spent on the road than competitors.
Mr Gales said: "This vehicle brings an interesting new dimension to bus technology, offering transport operators a choice to help address the world's environmental challenges."
Founded in 1946, Wrightbus has been pioneering in public transport for over 75 years and is still based in Ballymena, Northern Ireland.

The company had previously introduced the world’s first hydrogen double deck, the StreetDeck Hydroliner.
Jean-Marc noted that innovation and technology were central to their operations.
He said: "We are the only manufacturer in Europe to offer a complete suite of zero-emission buses, with both battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell single and double decks."
Go-Ahead London’s Engineering Director Chris McKeown added: "As the UK's largest and most experienced electric bus operator, we are working with Transport for London and our innovative supply chain to deliver a sustainable, zero-emission future for the capital's iconic red buses."
He welcomed the opportunity to trial the StreetDeck Electroliner and confirmed their intentions for robust evaluation of the EV in the following months.
Official assessments, conducted at UTAC using the Ultra Low Emission Bus (ULEB) test, revealed that the Electroliner used around half of the energy of its closest BEV double deck UK competitor.
The evaluations further demonstrated that it produced an extraordinary 86 per cent less CO2 per kilometer than the Euro6 Diesel baseline, according to ULEB calculations.
