A woman from Orpington has given birth to the first Kings College Hospital baby of 2024.
Shannon, from Orpington, gave birth to a baby girl at 12.25am on New Year's Day (January 1).
The unnamed baby weighed in at 7lbs, 3ozs and was the first Kings College Hospital baby to be born.
Shannon said her care at the hospital was “absolutely fantastic”.
“Everyone has been really helpful and supportive”, she added.
14 other families across Kent and South London celebrated the arrival of their babies at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust on New Year’s Day 2024.
Maternity staff at King’s College Hospital welcomed eight babies on New Year’s Day 2024, while colleagues at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) helped introduce seven babies to the world.
Clare Clifford-Turner, Specialist Midwife at King’s College Hospital said: "Congratulations to all the families who celebrated the arrival of their New Year’s Day babies at King’s College Hospital.
“A special thanks to all our staff who have worked over the festive period, not only to bring these very special babies into the world safely, but also for bringing festive cheer, a positive attitude and exemplary team work."
