Como Garden is one of London’s most stunning restaurants, with a tree as a centre feature lit up with fairy lights.
It’s one of those places where you walk in and gasp, and you can’t help but look around and stare at the green leafy walls and boho lanterns hanging from the ceiling.
The interior is inspired by the gorgeous gardens of Lake Como, and you do feel like you’ve been transported there when inside.
It’s got a really warm, atmospheric feel and each table has its own candle light or lamp to add to the vibe.
I went with my best friend for a mid-week dinner in Kensington High Street, but Como Garden was still busy which is always nice to see on a Tuesday.
The menu is delivered in a tapas style, designed to cater around three dishes per person to have a broader culinary experience, and you can see the Como love for pasta in the menu as well.
We followed the advice and ordered three dishes each, some to share and some our own.
The menu is divided into sections including starters, meats, pastas, pizza and fish and seafood.
We decided to go for a portion of fried zucchini each from the starter section, a shared salmon and avocado tartare, a shared tuna and detterino tomato tartare, and then my friend had truffle and parmesan tagliolini and I had seabass.
It all came as it was ready which was nice so that we could pick at each dish as and when we fancied, and everything tasted fresh and you could tell that the flavours were put together carefully.
My favourites were the zucchini and also the salmon tartare – the zucchini came as nine thick pieces of crispy courgette which were cooked to perfection, and I love the avocado contrast with the salmon which was melt-in-the-mouth.
My friend absolutely loved her truffle pasta, which came as a really generous portion.
We paired our meal with cocktails – and it was nice to be able to choose from the menu from Italian and classics.
Although the advised three dish per person offering was perfect, I was glad I had room for dessert because this was definitely the highlight of my meal.
I basically had fried dough balls with Nutella and pistachio in and they were absolutely divine.
They were warm, oozing with flavour, and came also as an extremely generous portion which was great for my sweet tooth.
My friend had the tiramisu which she absolutely loved, and as an avid tiramisu eater she said this was one of the best.
It was the perfect restaurant for a good catch up, scrumptious food, and really nice classy atmospheres.
