One of the contestants in this year’s Big Brother house is from south London.
Hallie, 18, is a youth worker who is excited to take on the challenges of this famous reality TV show.
On Monday’s episode (October 9), Hallie made an announcement to her housemates in the show – telling them she is a trans woman.
She said: “Hey guys, I just have something to say.
“Yesterday, I feel like I wasn’t being 100 per cent authentic in myself.
“I thought I’d let everyone know I’m trans if you didn’t know already.
“I just thought I’d make that loud and clear.
“I’m a trans woman if you didn’t know.
“I just wanted to bring that up”.
Big Brother follows a group of housemates who have not met before as they live in a house specifically designed to isolate them from the outside world.
They are monitored 24/7 by cameras and microphones and throughout the show, housemates slowly get “evicted” after several public votes.
Hallie had said that she wanted to be a Big Brother house mate for the experience.
She said: “I feel like Big Brother is the biggest social experiment and I want to be a part of it.
“It's about getting my face out there and just having fun, enjoying life.
“I'm only 18 so I didn't grow up watching it but as I got older, I would watch clips on YouTube and stuff, so I've been a fan.
“And yeah, just for fun, really?”
Before going in, she told ITV that she was most looking forward to “the tasks and all the different personalities”.
Hallie added: “I can imagine it's all extroverted people and big personalities.
“Just the whole experience.
“I'm a bit of a diva and I speak my mind but I'm also a very lovely person.
“I'm a girl's girl, for sure.
“I'm honest, fun and, yeah, just brilliant.”
When asked for an interesting fact about herself, she said that she was once in the news after swallowing some magnets and having to get them surgically removed.
Hallie believes she is most likely to be nominated for “being lazy and having an opinion”.
She likes speaking her mind and “not many people like that”.
Big Brother is on screen on ITV every night, except for Saturdays, at 9pm.
