A driver has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after being involved with a crash with a tractor in Penge.

The incident took place at the junction of Franklin Road and Croydon Road on Friday, September 1 at around 2.30pm.

No injuries were reported, and the driver of the car was taken into custody.

Fire crews from Beckenham Fire Station and police officers attended to the crash between the two vehicles.

Firefighters worked ensure the safety of the area as one of the vehicles was leaking fluid into the road.

The Brigade was alerted to the incident at 2.30pm and remained on scene until 3.48pm.

During this time, the road had to be closed in both directions for debris to be cleared.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at 2.33pm on Friday, 1 September to a collision involving a car and a tractor at the junction of Franklin Road and Croydon Road, SE20.

"The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taken into custody.

"There have been no reported injuries.

"The road was closed while debris was cleared."

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: "Firefighters responded to a road traffic collision at the junction of Franklin Road and Croydon Road.

"Crews from Beckenham Fire Station responded to reports of a collision between two vehicles.

"Firefighters worked to make the scene safe and prevent fluid from one of the vehicles leaking onto the roadway.

"The Brigade was called at 2.30pm, and firefighters remained on scene until 3.48pm."
