A video has been shared on social media showing the huge Metropolitan Police presence on Oxford Street amid claims that there was attempted looting.

The footage shows Met Police vans pulling up on the popular shopping thoroughfare as crowds of people stand around the shops.

The police then barge through the crowd to stand in front of a shop entrance as the chaos continues.

Vlogger Paul Brown shared the footage in a Twitter (X) post captioned: "Microsoft at Oxford Circus station attempted looting lots of riot Police turned arriving causing the youth to run away."

This comes after the Met shared that there would be a heightened police presence in central London and Oxford Street after a TikTok trend encouraged people to commit crimes on Wednesday afternoon.

The Police issued a dispersal order from Tuesday (11 am) to Thursday (10 am), allowing officers to exclude people from the area for up to 48 hours.

Previously, London Mayor, Sadiq Khans and Met Police called for an end to the 'nonsense' on Oxford Street, with three men having been detained today.

Paul Brown has since shared another video showing police clashing with a group of people in a post captioned: "Police and youths fighting off the side streets of Oxford street - multiple arrests been made."
