A woman has died after being hit by a train at Penge East Railway station.

A casualty on the tracks was reported to the police just after 4.50pm yesterday (June 15).

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews were called to the scene.

An ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a medic in a fast response car, and members of the hazardous area response team also attended.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and her next of kin have been informed.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “We were called at 4.51pm yesterday (15 June) to Penge East Railway Station, to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Officers attended alongside paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and their next of kin have been informed.

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 4.56pm yesterday (15 June) to reports of a person under a train at Penge East Rail Station, SE20.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a medic in a fast response car and members of our hazardous area response team (HART).

“Our first medics arrived in four minutes.

“Sadly, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
