A man has been taken to hospital after a brawl in Penge High Street.

Police and paramedics found an 18-year-old man suffering with a serious head injury at around 4.35pm on Wednesday, February 22.

He was taken to hospital where he currently remains – but there is no update on his condition.

The suspects fled the scene before police arrived and no arrests have been made.

Enquiries continue and police are now appealing for witnesses.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.41pm yesterday (22 February) to reports of an incident on High Street, Penge.

“We sent an ambulance crew and a medic in a fast response car to the scene.

“We treated a man at the scene before taking him to a major trauma centre.”

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Shortly before 4.35pm on Wednesday, 22 February a Police Community Support Officer was flagged down by members of the public who reported a fight taking place across the road in High Street, Penge.

“The PCSO attended and found an 18-year-old man suffering from a serious head injury.

“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended shortly afterwards.

“The suspects fled the scene prior to the PCSO arriving.

“The victim was taken to hospital.

“We await an update on his condition.

“No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue.
