Mark Hudson's Palace career is hanging by a thread after contract talks turned sour.
The captain was dropped from the squad for Saturday's match against Colchester, with Neil Warnock admitting that negotiations over extending his contract had got to the defender.
His current deal is due to run out in the summer but there is real concern now whether or not he will sign a new contract or walk away for nothing at the end of the season, with Warnock saying the two parties are nowhere near each other.
He said: "We had a bit of a dispute this week contractual wise and I just thought his mind wouldn't be on it tonight.
"I'd rather leave him out and have a look at one or two things and speak to him probably on Monday."
When asked whether Hudson will be involved in Wednesday's trip to West Brom, Warnock was non-committal.
He said: "I'll speak to him on Monday and we'll have a chat, then we'll see."
