Eltham firefighters tackle fire inside rubbish truck Rubbish truck destroyed by fire in Eltham A rubbish truck in Eltham has been destroyed by a fire.
Firefighters were called at 10.55pm on April 17 to a fire inside a rubbish truck in Eltham High Street.
The refuse and inner compartment of the truck were on fire.
Road closures were in place whilst firefighters tackled the blaze.
There were no reports of any injuries.
The fire was under control by 11.27pm.
One fire engine from Eltham Fire Station attended the scene.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Firefighters tackled a fire involving a dustcart on Eltham High Street.
“Refuse and the inner compartment of a dustcart were alight.
“There were no reports of any injuries.
“Road closures were in place whilst crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control.
“The Brigade was called at 2255 and the fire was under control by 2327.
“One fire engine from Eltham Fire Station.”
