TfL and Stagecoach are investigating are a double decker bus burst into flames driving along Woolwich Road early this morning, causing substantial damage but no injuries.
The London Fire Brigade were called to a 'rare' bus fire broke out on a 422 bus whilst driving along Woolwich Road early this morning (February 21).
Three fire engines attended the scene on Woolwich Road in Greenwich at 4:56am, with a subsequent investigation launched into what happened.
The fire was dealt with by 5:31am, causing substantial damage to the double decker bus but leaving no injuries.
Tom Cunnington, head of bus business development at TfL said: “There was a fire at the rear of a route 422 bus in Plumstead in the early hours of Friday morning.
"Thankfully no-one was injured during the incident and the road has since reopened.
"Bus fires are rare, and we are working with the bus operator Stagecoach to investigate the cause.”
