The completion of 30 new pocket homes in Deptford is a "dream come true" for first time homebuyers.
Lewisham Mayor Steve Bullock visited the new homes in Arklow Road to lay a brick to mark the final stage of the development.
Public sector worker Sanketa Shetty, 29, moved into the first lot of pocket homes built by Pocket Living in Marischal Road just before Christmas last year.
“It’s a dream come true," she said.
"I’m in the borough that I want to live in and I’m a property owner.
"I’ve been renting in south London for years but without Pocket I wouldn’t stand a chance of buying somewhere around here.”
All of the apartments are now reserved with 100 per cent of the buyers having already lived in Lewisham.
Mr Bullock was delighted to see the homes finally built
"It’s fantastic that 100 per cent of Pocket Living’s 30 new affordable homes in Deptford are reserved for Lewisham residents," he said.
"Affordable housing developments like this one are crucial to tackling London’s housing crisis and giving residents the chance to get their foot on the housing ladder.”
Arklow Road’s completion brings the total number of affordable pocket homes in Lewisham to 56.
