A retro fast food restaurant has closed down and burger fans are devastated.
Wimpy in High Street, Lewisham has shut down, leaving regulars reminiscing about the glory days of the chain.
The first Wimpy opened at the Lyon’s Corner House in Coventry Street, central London in 1954 and expanded globally.
Serving breakfasts, burgers and milkshakes Wimpy became 'an institution' on the high street and regulars are upset to see it closed.
One Twitter user wrote: "But why??? This has been an institution on the high street for decades!! Great food & staff. @WimpyUK What's happened?"
Another said: "What has happened to @WimpyUK Lewisham? Not closed down I hope? #specialsauce #benderinabun"
There are still branches of the popular chain in Beckenham, Bexleyheath, Dartford, Eltham, Welling and Woolwich for fans to get their fix.
