A man was found dead at Barnehurst Golf Course yesterday evening (June 6), police have confirmed.
Officers from Met Police were called to the sports club, in Mayplace Road East, at 7.45pm.
There they discovered the body of a man, who is believed to be between 40 and 50 years old.
A spokesman said: “A crime scene was initially started, but has now been closed.
“At this early stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious. Enquiries continue.”
Many residents of Mayplace Road East were not aware of what was going on but claim bodies have been found in the woods behind the course in the past.
One resident, known only as Mrs Berryman said: "It wouldn't surprise me. It happened before, behind the course.
"But last night we didn't hear a sound."
The man has not yet been identified, and next of kin have not been informed.
Update to follow.
