A group of suspected migrants were being sought in Gravesend yesterday (May 12) after reports they had escaped from a lorry.
Officers from Kent Police scoured the area near the A2, after receiving a call at 4.40pm, but no one was found.
Several police cars were spotted parked just off the carriageway, whilst a police helicopter was circling the fields nearby.
Witnesses reportedly saw several people walking along the hard shoulder.
A spokesman said: “Police were called at 4.40pm to the concern for a number of suspected migrants, who were reported to have got off a lorry near to the A2 in Gravesend.
“A search of the area is underway to locate them.”
