A troubled Sydenham pub whose lock-in to watch a boxing match descended into violence has seen its landlady removed from her post.
The Met has applied for a review of The Bell's licence following the 20-man brawl early on May 3, just after the Mayweather versus Pacquiao bout.
And, on July 15, a Lewisham Council licensing sub-committee reduced the Bell Green boozer's opening hours and removed Joy Nelson from her post as landlady.
Lewisham Police’s Licensing Officer PS Matt McGrath said: "The Met provided evidence to the licensing committee that identified serious failings by the management of the pub which led to three serious incidents."
He said: "The application was made following three serious incidents and a breakdown in communication between the landlady and the police.
"The Met would always encourage dialogue between licensed premises and police to address any issues. Unfortunately this did not take place."
