A freight train has derailed near Charlton causing delays to Southeastern services along the Woolwich line.
Network Rail said three wagons on an empty freight train derailed as it made its way from sidings at Angerstein Wharf onto the railway from Greenwich to Charlton.
Services from to Greenwich and Dartford are disrupted following the incident.
Netwrork Rail said in a statment: "Trains will begin running through Greenwich and Charlton again by 4pm, following a period of closure this afternoon. However the line from Blackheath to Charlton remains blocked and cancellations are likely this evening (Wednesday).
"Southeastern passengers can use their tickets on appropriate Transport for London routes, including the DLR, but are encouraged to check before they travel as it may be busy.
"We are working to move the derailed wagons as soon as possible, however once they are moved, repairs will also need to be made to the railway.
"As a result, the line between Blackheath and Charlton is likely to remain closed for the rest of today and potentially tomorrow morning (Thursday).
"An investigation has begun into the causes of the derailment."

Mick Cash, general secretary of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union, is predicting trouble at London Bridge during rush hour.,
He said: "RMT awaits the report into this derailment but it is clear that we can expect absolute chaos at London Bridge this evening.
"RMT remains concerned that our members on the station, who have been abused and assaulted in the past, will once again be in the front line of passenger anger and we will be monitoring the situation after overcrowding at London Bridge earlier this year reached dangerous levels on a number of occasions."
