Plans have been unveiled for a Lewisham 'pop-up village' of brightly-coloured temporary housing on an old leisure centre site.
As revealed by News Shopper last year, Lewisham Council wants the ready-made homes to be put on the demolished Ladywell Leisure Centre site, currently lying vacant
The 24 homes, also set to include eight business or community units underneath, would be used as temporary accommodation for homeless people.
Devised with architects Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners, the project has a maximum budget of £4.3m and would be on site for up to four years - with the potential to be moved elsewhere in the borough afterwards.
Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock said: "This scheme may offer a solution to an all too common problem that plagues many development sites, which often sit unused while complex regeneration plans are put together.
"When we have thousands of people on our housing waiting list and are paying out for expensive bed and breakfast stays that is a terrible waste."
A planning application will go in later this month. Residents can quiz the architects at Lewisham Library on January 24 from 2pm to 4pm or an assembly at Hither Green Baptist Church from 12pm to 2pm.
