A LANDSLIDE in Longfield has caused misery for commuters this morning (JAN 17) although the line is being reopened now.
A replacement bus service ran on Southeastern trains between Swanley and Chatham, following the incident which occurred at 8.20am.
Journey times were extended by around 30 minutes and delays are continuing into the afternoon.
A Southeastern spokesman said: "The line is being opened up now and the first service will be the train departing from Victoria at 10.58am.
"It only affected the Kent-bound direction and replacement buses were put in place while Network Rail representatives checked the situation."
A Network Rail spokesman said: "We were first made aware of the situation, around a mile from Longfield Station in the Meopham direction, at 6.20am when there was a land slip.
"It was not dangerous at that time but unfortunately by the time our engineers it had got worse. We stopped trains at 8.20am.
"Our team were able to clear it with shovels and the line was opened at 10.30am but it will take some time for normal service to resume.
"We’ve had various problems this morning because of the wet weather we’ve been having since December."
