THE leader of Greenwich Council’s foul-mouthed voicemail left on a colleague’s phone has been deemed ‘not bullying’ by the council’s Standards Committee.
Councillor Chris Roberts referred himself to the committee after News Shopper revealed the voicemail which warns his cabinet member Councillor John Fahy to “get that through your f***ing thick skull, John."
But the Standards Committee today (December 20), at a meeting where press and public where excluded, decided the incident did not amount to bullying and there was no need for further investigation.
In a statement posted today, the committee says the reason for its decision is due to Chris Roberts’ apology to Mr Fahy via voicemail, letter, in person and via News Shopper.
Numerous allegations of the council leader’s bullying, including allegedly throwing keys at a cleaner, led to Chris Roberts being investigated by Greenwich Labour Group which has applied a sanction of a written warning.
