THESE shocking images show how a toddler was "centimetres from death" after a buggy was crushed against a wall by a car in Gravesend.
Witnesses say it was a "miracle" the youngster survived following the "horrific" smash in Darnley Road shortly before 9am this morning.
It is believed a blue Rover and a green Skoda collided close to the junction with Arthur Street, causing the Rover to ricochet in the direction of a buggy being pushed along the pavement.
The pushchair, containing a child, was then sandwiched against a wall.
Gravesham MP Adam Holloway was close to the scene of the accident at the time.
He told News Shopper: "It was a miracle. If the car had come a few centimetres further the child would have died.
"I heard unhappy sounds and rushed over and a car had crashed into a buggy and it was squeezed into a wall.
"It was just at the junction and one car had just smashed into another, I guess they just didn't see the other person coming.
"The child was lifted out by a guy - the kid seemed fine but the parents were obviously upset."
Arthur Street resident Justin Cunningham also rushed towards the buggy as soon as he heard the commotion.
The 41-year-old said: "It looked horrific. One of the cars was up on the pavement and the buggy was crushed.
"We were scared the child was still in there but someone said it looked worse than it was.
"It was very emotional, very highly charged.
"Then a guy turned up who I think was the child's father and he was very upset.
"He looked like he wanted to punch someone."
His partner Nicky Stuck, 39, added: "It looked terrible, the buggy was all crumpled."
South East Coast Ambulance paramedics treated two children and an adult at the scene before taking them to Darent Valley Hospital with minor injuries.
Surinda Mann, 66, said: "It doesn't surprise me, there are a lot of accidents here.
"People go very fast down this road."
Kent Police confirmed they were called to Darnley Road to reports of a two car collision.
