PARENTS of pupils at a Bexleyheath school were yesterday allowed to take their children home early due to the rising heat.
Temperatures soared above 30c on the hottest day of the year so far and pupils at Upland Primary School were able to leave early.
Julia Atkin, a receptionist at the Church Road school, said: “Parents were given the option to take their children home after lunchtime due to the rising heat. We were open as normal.
“It is an option, if the building gets too uncomfortable and the headteacher made the decision.”
