A MAN has been bailed following the Lewisham death of cyclist Paul Hutcheson on Monday.
The 41-year-old, named locally as Mr Hutcheson, from Lee, died following an accident at Loampit Vale.
Police were called out to the scene on June 24 where a car and a bicycle had collided.
Paramedics were called out but Mr Hutcheson, known to friends as Crutch, died from his injuries in hospital.
A friend of his told News Shopper: "He was an absolutely fantastic bloke. You never saw him sad. He was never down.
"He was always a really happy fellow."
Police said the car involved - a red Audi - did not initially stop at the scene but was located a short distance away.
A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
He has since been bailed to return in August pending further enquiries.
In the meantime, police from the Road Death Investigation Unit continue to appeal for information. If you can help call 020 8285 1574 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
