THE electricity network in the Farnborough area is being upgraded at a cost of £50,000.
UK Power Networks, which owns, manages and maintains the electricity distribution network for the South-East, is spending the money by laying about 150 metres of new low-voltage cables in the Farnborough Common area.
The work will take place on the weekends of November 16, 17 and 18 plus November 24 and 25.
Two-way traffic lights on the A21 will be in operation while underground ducting is installed before cables are laid inside.
UKPN says no power supplies will be lost because of the works.
Senior project manager Allen Aldridge said: “While we can never guarantee an uninterrupted power supply, I am confident that the replacement of these cables and associated works will substantially improve the quality and security of power supplies to the Farnborough area.”
