Brama hotel Bromley Town Hall: First look

Bromley recently welcomed its newest and only boutique hotel along with a brand new restaurant and office space.

Bromley’s Brama hotel is set within the newly refurbished Bromley Old Town Hall, which was built at the beginning of the 20th century and has been a setting for marriages and court hearings, and was also previously featured in films like Churchill.

The building was previously placed on the Heritage at Risk register in 2009, but extensive renovation works have transformed the former town hall into a hotel, dining and work space for people visiting Bromley.

Brama shares the space along with the Dorothy and Marshall restaurant located within the former courthouse of the building, and Clockwise offering 62,000 square feet of office space with offices, private desks and meeting rooms.

Members of Clockwise will also have access to the members lounge upstairs as well as the café and terrace.

Bromley’s Old Town Hall spans two floors, including the basement which was formerly used as holding cells.

Today you can still see the original holding cells, which contain the original doors that would have been used to house people before a trial in the courtrooms above.

After renovations, the Old Town Hall has still retained many of its original features, including the large open staircase from when it was first built.

Now it’s been turned into a space to relax and enjoy a drink in, a far cry from how it would have originally been used.

It's located on Tweedy Road, a short walk from the nearby stations of Bromley North and Bromley South along with the Glades Shopping Centre.

The rooms

The hotel has 23 rooms decorated in an art deco style to keep in with the Town Hall’s aesthetic from when it was initially built in 1907.

The rooms are spaced across two floors, featuring a mix of accommodation for different needs, from a luxurious suite to spacious rooms and smaller shoebox rooms.

2 of the rooms on offer are also dog friendly, for guests wishing to bring their canine companions to stay.

All the rooms feature a workspace, large bed, walk-in rainfall shower and complimentary shower products.

Speaking on the opening of the hotel, Alexandra Livesey, Managing Director of Brama and Chief Operating Officer of Clockwise, says: “Bromley Old Town Hall has such a rich heritage, we discovered amazing architectural details which we've worked tirelessly to restore carefully and sensitively while introducing practical modern elements.

“We wanted to bring the building back to life, position it once again as a space for the community and local area while welcoming guests from further afield to show all that Bromley has to offer.

“The opening of Brama hotel as part of this mixed use scheme is an exciting addition and there’s nothing else like it in the area.”
