A popular park in south east London is an Instagram hotspot and known for its vibrant wisteria.
Wisteria season has arrived in London with many Instagrammers and photographers flocking to wisteria hotspots like Notting Hill.
However, south east London is also known for its Wisteria hotspots including the south east London location of Sexby Garden in Peckham.
Wisteria, part of the Fabaceae family, is a climbing flower that blooms in late spring and is recognisable by its fragrant scent and its light purple or white colours.
The flower was also heavily used in the Netflix series Bridgerton and has become associated with the branding of the popular period drama.
With its long walkway featuring a pergola abundant with the purple bloom, it's no wonder this park has featured heavily on many Instagrammers' feeds during the wisteria season.
The Sexby Garden is located in Peckham Rye Park near to Peckham Rye Station and within close distance of Dulwich and Honor Oak.
The park first opened in May 1894 and the Old English Garden was considered to be one of its most notable features upon its creation.
The garden was later named Sexby Garden after John James Sexby, a prominent horticulturalist.
The park was later restored in 2004 and now features an array of seasonal blooms along with an ornamental pond and paths lined with Yorkstone paving.
