TWO women had to be cut out of a car when it hit two parked vehicles and a post.

Firefighters were called to the incident in King's Highway in Plumstead at 1.24am this morning (Sunday).

Fire crews had to cut the roof from the car to release the two women, one who was around 20 years old.

They were at the scene for around an hour and a half.

The London Air Ambulance was also there.

Hope they're both ok!

You sure the 'Air Ambulance' was called? From what i hear it doesn't travel late at night/morning due to the darkness. That's coming from the 'LAA' website.

Your facts are correct. However, HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) almost fly around in a high powered car overnight!
My son works for LAS and has been out with them.

Yet again the fire service get praise but no mention of the Ambulance crews or Police who attended the crash. There was 5 Ambulances there + HEMS and many Police cars, but reading the report, they might as well not been there!!!
Although the fire service attend the scenes, the Paramedics on scene treated the patients, and the firemen assist in cutting the patient out as required by the medics.
The Police investigate the crash, and control the crash scene.
Yet again we see that because the fire service have a good PR machine (the Ambulance service hardly report these things due to patient confidentiality) they never get the public praise or respect they should for dealing with these types of incidents!

Micky, I agree that ALL the emergency services to a fantastic job, especially in these situations, but maybe the fire brigade should bet a little more praise as they are the only service that does not prioritise the calls and attend every single one with 5-10 mins. The other services unfortunately DO prioritise and you could wait hours for someone to turn up.

Why is that no one makes any comment about the people involved in the accident and goes off at a tangent. Yes the emergency services do a wonderful job and deserve the highest praise but give a thought for the the occupants of the car one who I understand it still in hospital

Sam, You are correct, the Fire Service do attend as soon as they are called, but they also charge for attending some of them. So they do not operate a free service.
The reason the Police and Ambulance services prioritise calls is because the call rate. The ambulance get between 3500 - 4500 calls every 24 hours, the Police more than that. The fire service are lucky to get several hundred per 24 hours. So please think about everybody, and don't think because them come straight away they are better than anybody else!!

I have heard that the passenger who was in the back is still in hospital and on a life support machine. The driver seems to have got off lightly injury wise, lets hope the courts throw the book at them for drink driving

Also, if LAS sent an ambulance immediately to everyone they would soon find that paramedics were off dealing with people who've sneezed a few times and then there's not be a crew to deal with a serious life threatening event such as the one described. People need to think before they call 999 demanding an ambulance - (often I amy add being rude to the call taker at the same time and putting others lives in danger).
I do hope that the people involved in this accudent get well soon and that the cause is found and the correct people prosecuted.
